Barnsley v Rovers... - Page 3 Empty Re: Barnsley v Rovers...

Post by yorkie64red Sat 19 Nov - 20:34:03

Rovers boss Dean Saunders is looking forward to this afternoon's away game at Barnsley - his first taste of a local derby since joining the club.
Since joining, Rovers have won three of their nine games, and even though they won the last game, at Ipswich, are still at the bottom of the table. At least there is the prospect of climbing up the table as long as Rovers pick up points today, with Coventry City and Bristol City within one point of Rovers.
Saunders said ahead of today's game: “There is something wrong with you if you don’t look forward to derbies. If you lose, the fans get slaughtered by opposition fans when they go into work on Monday. But they will all go home really happy if we win. Sometimes they are all about wanting three points more than the opposition and we are going there looking for three points.”
He added: “We’ve got to want to win more than them, we need to really want the three points more than them. More often than not with derby matches that’s what it’s all about. You’ve not got to be frightened to lose. “The players will be up for it and I want to win. We want to send our fans home happy."
"Barnsley are a mobile team, they’ve got a lot of energy in the team and they look like they work hard. We need to get to the ball first. If we can win on Saturday then we go three points behind Barnsley which is a good place to be in. “We’re going there for three points.”

Well played Dingles , we simply didn't show up today, no heart, no gameplan, no structure and it could be seen within the first 10 minutes.
Disappointed with the turnout, we all had the opportunity to show our region's clubs that cheaper ticketing policies would increase attendances............it wasn't taken. Sad

Gotta say, very well played to the lads, stuck together chased every ball, honestly can't fault them today! Smile

No disrespect to Donny, but we should have won by more than 2-0 really, yet again we miss a lot of chances we really should not be missing, I mean one of them just rolled across the line of the goal and we couldn't even put it in before Donny cleared.

I still think we need to sharpen up in front of goal, and Haynes if not injured should have been on earlier.
But a very good result for us, which now puts us 15th. Very Happy

I loved all your lots confidence before this match but there was never any chance of a set of Mercenaries winning at Oakwell.

We absolutely outclassed you lot yesterday.
I went to school with a Donny fan and was talking to him last night, he told me its a bad time to be a Rovers fan and he hates the carry on over there at the keep quiet!!
Your beloved chairman agreeing to this Mckay carry on has put the final nail in your coffin i think, i know its still early days in the championship but you are already 6 points from safty. I don't know what you lot think but i reckon league 1 will be your destination and there is only 1 man to blame, not Mckay but the man that agreed to this!!!

Anyway i have to finish this by saying we were brilliant today.
I feel sorry for you lot with whats happening and although i really don't like Donny i hope you situation sorts itself out and you improve so we can beat you again next season!!
